Choosing a New Baby Gift

Choosing a new baby gift is almost as much fun as having a new baby yourself. But with so many choices out there, it can sometimes be hard to know where to start. I like to choose useful presents, something that I hope is going to be used and loved and perhaps treasured for years. That way the new parents will think of your kindness regularly. Practical doesn't have to mean boring though, perhaps you could find a twist on a tried and tested new baby present idea that will show the new parents just how much care and thought you put into choosing the gift. Baby lambskins are a lovely idea as a new baby present – they will last for years and years and could help calm the new baby, giving mum and dad some well earned rest. Baby lambskins can be used on a bed or Moses basket or cot, in a pram or car seat or placed on the floor as a baby play mat. When the baby is older, they can be used as a sheepskin floor rug to keep little toes warm when they get out of bed in the morning. Organic cotton cellular blankets are another very popular choice – they look and feel wonderful and will be used and used. Cellular blankets are preferred for young babies as they can help them regulate their temperature if it is hot and can be used to wrap baby snuggly when the temperature drops. I like buying books for babies too – something the baby will grow into and love for many years to come. Black and white books and mobiles are good for young babies too, my daughter loved hers! A little pressie for the new mother or father is often appreciated too – perhaps some nursing tea for a breastfeeding mummy or something a little stronger for daddy. New baby presents don't have to cost you anything either – a home cooked meal that is easy to heat up will be gratefully received by tired new parents as will the offer of minding the baby or older sibling for a few hours. Whatever you choose to give as a new baby present, give something chosen with love and it is sure to be treasured. |
